We recommend starting with a plate of our famous pakoras. A pakora is a snack coated in chickpea batter and then fried, and here at Ashoka you can choose chicken, chili, vegetable, fish or paneer – a light cheese – pakora. They go beautifully with a mango lassi, a yogurt drink mixed with pureed mango. You may also wish to snack on crispy papadums or samosas, a house favorite.
Don't be overwhelmed by the enormous selection of entrees we offer at Ashoka. You can't make a bad decision! For those who enjoy a lighter rice dish, we offer a variety of biryani: vegetable, goat, shrimp, and more, all seasoned with saffron and nuts. Tandoori fans will love Chicken Tikka Kebab or our fish, lamb, and mixed grill Tandoori dishes. And do we have vegetarian dishes? Do we ever have vegetarian dishes! Choose from Dal Curry, or curried lentils; Navratan Korma, which combines vegetables with nuts and cheese in a mild sauce; Baingan Bartha, an eggplant dish in a tomato sauce with cream; and the choices go on.
Ordering a side of bread is a tradition at Indian restaurants, and at Ashoka you'll find a fantastic selection of delicious, savory breads. Everyone loves naan, either onion, plain, stuffed with paneer, or Kabli Naan, which is loaded with cherries, nuts and raisins. Can't decide? That's no problem: order our Ashoka bread basket and get a little of everything. Bread is not the only side dish. Order some creamy cucumber raita, mango chutney or fragrant basmati rice.
